Visakapatnam Port sets salt unloading record

The Visakapatnam Port has set an all time record by unloading 'Industrial salt' in bulk in a day. According to a press release issued here, a total quantity of 22,646 tonnes of industrial salt, with a hoot output of 1,510 tonnes, was discharged recently from the vessel m.v.Stat Sea Rainbow at EQ-5 for Andhra Sugars Ltd.

In the process, the Port surpassed its previous best discharge of 21,762 tonnes with a hook output of 1,451 tonnes, set on May 10 last year from the vessel m.v.Hawk-1. While Ashapura Cargo Carriers was the stevedore, Picket Shipping and Logistics was the steamer agent for the vessel. At present this the best record of unloading salt in Visakapatnam port.

Tianjin launches direct sea-rail intermodel service to Xian

The port of Tianjin has commenced container sea rail intermodal service to the northwestern city of Xian with the launch of a new box train service, according to reports. Each train will have 50 cars able to carry 100 TEUs, will cover 1,200 kilometer and take three days to make the trip. Containers will be provided to the shippers by the port, so that they do not have to the shippers by the port, so that they do not have to worry about finding boxes for their cargo.

Including Xian, the Port of Tianjin has launched container sea-rail intermodal services to more than 10 cities, including Chengdu, Taiyuan, Urumqi, Baotou, Shizuishan, Erenhot, Alashankou and Manzhouli.

The port moved 143,000 TEUs via sea-rail intermodal during the first three quarters of this year. A total of 46,000 TEUs were carried on the service to Alashankou and Manzhouli then transited to European destinations, 43 per cent more than the volume recorded in the same period a year ago.
